At midnight, Dr. Tozawa and Shikaku-shimen break out of the jail, and escape to the Cross Island where unfinished transformable robot Pook Dr. Tozawa worked on is located. Dr. Tozawa was a genius robot engineer but he ended up in jail because he embezzled money of Ministry of Science to complete Pook. When Dr. Tozawa sneaks into the Cross Island, he is found by Atom who happens to be there for the observation tour. Dr. Tozawa immobilizes Atom by electric gun. Finally, Dr. Tozawa completes Pook. As a trial, he orders Pook to steal the box filled with uranium by request from Shikaku-shimen. The Cross Island has a good-quality uranium vein, and robots are used for its excavation. Actually, Shikaku-shimen is a member of a secret organization Kin-sankaku which plans to take over the island. Shikaku-shimen discloses his real identity and stabs Dr. Tozawa. Dr. Tozawa squeezes out his last ounce of strength to repair Atom, and asks him to save Pook from the wrong hands. Then Atom and Pook clear up a misunderstanding each other and stand together to destroy a huge submarine owned by Kin-sankaku.
